History
One often wonders why humans, as a species, don't seem to learn from history. Naively, one might think that an essential qualification for an elected leader is that they have some credentials in history--like, for example, your doctor should have a medical degree. But perhaps it doesn't matter. It may be that what we do is more a characteristic of what we are rather than what we know. BTW, this is the premise of my novel Proteus Rising.
